Vorticism (1914–1920)

Britain's most aggressive avant-garde movement, launched in the magazine BLAST. Angular, wedge-like machine forms radiate from central vortices; everything is triangular, jagged, and compressed. Related to both Futurism and Cubism but colder — the aesthetic of industrial cities and mechanical warfare rather than speed for its own sake.
