Synthwave / Retrowave (2010–present)

A perspective grid receding to a neon horizon, a pink-to-purple gradient sun bisected by horizontal scan lines, palm tree silhouettes, and chrome letterforms — synthwave reconstructs an imagined 1980s of science fiction films and video games that never quite existed. All nostalgia, no authenticity: a future that was dreamed rather than lived, missed intensely.
