Robert and Sonia Delaunay discovered that adjacent complementary colours create optical vibration — simultaneous contrast — without needing any depicted subject. Circular prismatic forms, rainbow colour progressions, and the idea that colour rhythm alone can carry movement and emotion. Joyful and mathematically exact at the same time.
