Zagreb School Animation (1956–1965)
The Zagreb School of animation — especially Dušan Vukotić's Oscar-winning Surogat (1961) — developed a deadpan Eastern European art-school cartoon look built from angular geometry and flat colour. Figures and objects are assembled from triangles and wedges rather than rounded forms; bold black outlines sit on unshaded colour fields in a limited-animation cel aesthetic. The Simpsons parodied this strand as "Worker and Parasite".
