Mexican Calavera / Posada (Traditional–present)
José Guadalupe Posada's skeleton caricatures established a visual tradition merging pre-Columbian death imagery with biting political satire. Day of the Dead iconography — skeleton figures dressed in elaborate period clothing, decorative floral and paper-cut borders, vivid colour — continues in folk crafts and contemporary design as a distinctly Mexican celebration of mortality as neither feared nor mournful, but joyfully acknowledged.
