Cyanotype / Blueprint (1842–present)

Anna Atkins's botanical photograms established the cyanotype aesthetic: Prussian blue ground with white silhouettes of objects placed directly on light-sensitive paper. The blueprint evolved for architectural and engineering drawings but shares the same high-contrast, ghostly quality — precise detail rendered as white absence within an intense blue field.
